Youngstown 4 Johnstown 3 F (Quick Review)

This was the last exhibition game before the games begin to count, and the Tomahawks had a great last tune up on Monday night. Though Johnstown was highly out-shot (42-14) they were not outplayed. Johnstown was down 1-0 after one period.

In the second period Youngstown scored two more goals to go up 3-0. With seconds left and it looking like Youngstown would go into the third up by three, Johnstown scored a buzzer beating goal to bring the game within two.  Zach Zech was credited with the goal.

In the third period Johnstown kept working and was able to score two more goals to tie the game at three. The second goal was scored by Andrew Romano after Peter Bates took a wrap-around shot, and Romano buried the lose puck in the net. Then Garrison Sanipass was able to score a goal from in-tight to tie the game.

Brett Young play very well in the game and though he didn't make any highlight reel saves he did make timely and routine ones to keep Johnstown in the game for the whole 60-minutes.

Johnstown gave up the lead, which was the game winner on the power play late in the third period.

Johnstown's next game will be this upcoming weekend vs the Keystone Ice Miners and it's the season opener.

Game Thoughts:

---Luke Lynch blocked a shot in the game which injured him, at least for a few minutes. Unable to get to the bench Lynch threw down his body blocking another shot. He then fell to sacrifice himself once more but the shot missed him. To see that type of "for the team" play in an exhibition game was great to see, and now we know why Lynch was a captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite team.

---Tanner Barnes was given a game misconduct in the game for hitting from behind.

---There was no PA announcer at the game so we can't provide you with the assists for each goal the Tomahawks' scored.

---Being down 3-0 and not giving up vs a higher level hockey team in an exhibition game speaks volume about the character this team has. We expect to see the same kind of never quit attitude during the season.

---We'll have our first regular season game preview this Friday before the Tomahawks travel to Keystone on Saturday. We hope you make the road trip to see the team in action. Let's see if we can fill the arena with more Tomahawk fans then Ice Miner fans. That would be something.
