Soo vs. Wenatchee (Eagles Report)

Written By: Chelsea Zalewski

After two losses to the Springfield Jr. Blues this past weekend, the Eagles are looking to bounce back with two home games against the Wenatchee Wild this weekend.  The Eagles did not have the opportunity to play out of division games last season with the exception of the Blaine Showcase.  This won’t be the only time the Eagles see the Wenatchee Wild either – the boys will make the trek out to Washington in February as well.   Wenatchee is coming off two losses handed to them by first place Port Huron.  Their season record is currently 5-5-0 and they’re at the bottom of the Midwest division.  After their two losses the past weekend, the Eagles find themselves hovering over the bottom of the North division with a 3-5-3 record.

The Eagles have been making changes to the roster since October 4th but no actual announcements have been made since the team released defensemen Matt Rzeppa.  According to the most recent protected list, the Eagles no longer have forward Anthony Saleh protected although he is still listed on the roster and has not been released. Rumor also has it that forward Josh Ward and defensemen Charlie Hemstrom have also left the team.

The Eagles have a lot to prove to themselves, the league, and fans this weekend and they’ve been working hard at practice and making changes in order to impress.  Coach Bruno will likely be starting both Colin Brennan and Paige Skoog a game apiece this weekend, much like he did last season with Tyler Marble and Zach Nagelvoort.

Saleh, Ward and Hesmstrom went home. Marchetti dealt to Brookings. Thompson leaving, heard rumors of trade or just going home to PA. Caruso off the roster for injury, rumored to be leaving for OHL when healthy. Another 20 year old on tap to be traded, not sure which one. It's going to be a long 3 game series against Johnstown this weekend!
