Tomahawks' Main Camp All-Star Game Review

Today was the last day of Johnstown's main camp for the upcoming 2013-2014. The best players of the camp were split into two teams, team Red and team Blue. One player was missing from the All-Star game, Jesse Kessler, who sat out due to injury.

First here's the goals that were scored during the game. We'll wrap things up with our personal views on what we saw today at Planet Ice.

The game featured three periods, 30 minutes each, running time.

Scoring:

Team Red: Heinz Koster (Eric Tien, JB Baker) 1-0
Team Red: Evan Ketner (Joe Drabin, Shane Bednard) 2-0
Team Blue: Casey Linkenheld (Connor Gilmartin, Forest Donovan) 2-1
Team Red: Ilya Ignatenko (Griffin Leach) 3-1
Team Red: Vincent Guimond (JB Baker) 4-1
Team Red: JB Baker (Joe Drabin) 5-1
Team Blue: Jake Fairchild (Jacob Soyka, Tyler Basham) 5-2*
Team Red: Conor Jonasson (Eric Tien) 6-2
Team Blue: Forest Donovan (Casey Linkenheld

Fights:

Jake Fairchild vs Griffin Leach
Brandon Reinholz vs Connor Gilmartin

Random Thoughts:

McCombs had a tough day, he saw himself go to the box four times. Had a couple good scoring chances when on the ice.

Zach Wallace was flying and picked up right were he left off last season.

Aaron Bland had a couple great scoring chances but couldn't finish. He'll be a great addition to the team.

Casey Linkenheld had a great breakaway move which resulted in a goal. Great player.

JB Baker was the best player on the ice today.

[UPDATE] No Cody Gylling, as he made the USHL Fargo Force.

[UPDATE] No Andrew McDonald either as we are told he also made Fargo Force roster.

Shane Cuckovich played like a seasoned pro. He'll be a welcomed addition to the Tomahawks.

Connor Gilmartin has pretty good speed and was able to hold his own vs. Fairchild.

Collin Finkhouse is a fun player to watch. Lots of chances, good speed at both ends of the rink.

Alex Okicki allowed two goals, but neither were his fault.

Brett Young gave up four goals.

Colin Brennan was the only guy not to allow any goals today. Played really well.

Colin DeAugustine fills the net well for being a smaller sized goalie. Allowed three goals.

Dakoda Menslage made some good plays today.

Alex Jaeckle was everywhere on the ice today. One player that really stood out to us. Good pick up.

Reinholz had a fight, a couple good hits, and yelled at the refs a couple times. Seems like he's in mid season form.

The Russian, Ilya Ignatenko played a good game and I hope he makes the roster.

Both teams had some bad turnovers at the beginning of the game but once the game got going things settled down.

There wasn't any players on the ice today that looked like they were a step behind.

The coaching staff and Rick Boyd are gonna have some very tough decisions to make to get the roster down to 25 players by September 1st.

The arena was packed with fans and family. A great turn out.

WJAC news was nowhere to been seen. Sad.

If you couldn't make it to the game today here's the roster that was provided by the team for the game. Since the game today we believe the team has made several cuts and we have some names of players that have made the team. We won't post those names though, until the official team's press release comes out.

We can't wait for the season to get started.

LET'S GO 'HAWKS!

I noticed the absence of JAC as well. Very disappointing but not unexpected. Probably something more inportant in sports today like a cornhole tournament!

Chris, that's too funny. At least you can count on the Tribune Democrat coming through.
