Tomahawks Fall in Final Regular Season Game

This will be a quick recap as we are working on our "Season in Review" and our "Playoff Preview" articles.

Tomahawks played a pretty good game last night, but lost due to, two bad bounces. This type of game will happen every once in a while.

In the first period of the game there was a mini brawl in front of the Tomahawks bench, after a clean hit by Cody Boyd on Jamestown's Luc Gerdes. As Gerdes was being attended to by Jamestown's trainer, Boyd made a motion to the Johnstown crowd which drew attention from Jamestown's bench, as they saw it as tauting the injury on the ice. Ross Pavek jumped off the bench along with Joe Mottiqua, as they both went after Boyd. This lead to all the players on the ice dropping the gloves, and Jake Fairchild, from the bench, fighting.

The penalties on the play went as followed:

Cody Boyd- 2 for roughing and 5 for fighting
Jake Fairchild- 2 for instigating, 5 for fighting, and a game misconduct

Ross Pavek- 5 for leaving the bench and a game misconduct
Aaron Scheppelman- 5 for fighting and a game misconduct
Joe Mottiqua- 5 for leaving the bench and a game misconduct (this was announced at the arena but isn't on the boxscore.)

Johnstown had the lead going into the third period before Jamestown made their come back.

Jesse Kessler assisted by Cody Gylling and Jordan Watt 8:37 power play
Nathan Ropelewski assisted by Huba Sekesi 7:14
Daniel Cesarz assisted by Ryan Urso 8:33 power play

Jamestown out shot Johnstown 32-26. Both teams went 1 for 4 on the power play.

Truehl made 30 saves on 32 shots in the loss. Ballmer made 25 saves on 26 shots.

---Port Huron won their last game of the season and got a fourth place finish. Port Huron will host the first two games in Port Huron, in the best of three play in series. Those games will be this weekend, exact dates have not been annouced yet. We'll have a full preview of that first playoff series later tonight, or tomorrow.

---A lot of Johnstown Tomahawks fans were at the game. It's great to see the support this team has.

---Jamestown's area is small but very nice, other than Johnstown (of course) it's probably the best arena in the North Division.

---Janesville and Michigan did not qualify for the Robertson Cup Playoffs.
