The Johnstown Tomahawks started February off on the wrong foot.
Head Coach Jason Spence’s squad held 3-1 leads against Port Huron and Soo on Feb. 1 and Feb. 2 but failed to earn a victory.
The Tomahawks are now on a two game losing streak and now will travel to Janesville, WI to take on the Jets.
Janesville is currently fighting for the sixth and final playoff spot in the North Division and is on a three game slide.
Jason Ford paces the Jets with 14 goals and 14 assists. However, the most impressive player for the Jets this season has been defenseman Ruslan Pedan.
Pedan, a Moscow native, leads all Jets defensemen with nine goals and 22 assists.
Brock Kautz and Austin Priebe have tended the goal for the Jets.
Kautz has received the majority of the starts but has a subpar record of 11-14-7
For the Tomahawks, this weekend in Janesville will prove to be a huge opportunity for the Tomahawks to gain ground in the standings.
Mitch Kontny, the team captain, has arguably been one of the Tomahawks best players through the past few games. He has a six game point streak and will look to build upon his already impressive numbers.
Cody Gylling and Casey Nelson have also been impressive.
Gylling leads the Tomahawks in goals, while Nelson is the chief chance producer because of his penchant for shooting the puck.
Friday will be the debut of new Tomahawk forward Matt Williams, who was acquired from the Coulee Region Chill.
