Johnstown is third in the division in goals scored with 157, yet at times and recently, the Tomahawks have had trouble putting pucks in the net. Some people will say that this current team doesn't have enough scoring talent, that this team has a lot of 3rd and 4th line players, and for the most part they are right in their thinking.
Well Rick Boyd, The GM of the Tomahawks, and his staff today announced four players that have signed Tender contracts for next season. First off, for those that are new to junior hockey, what is a tender contract?
In the NAHL, a tender is a contract a player signs announcing his intentions to play for one particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft. Unless agreed upon in writing by the two NAHL teams, tendered or drafted players are not eligible to try out for other NAHL teams. The four players signed today are Collin Finkhouse, Matt Meier, Aaron Bland, and Eric Tien.
Collin currently plays in the NAPHL for West Michigan Hounds 18U. He currently is the team's leading goal scorer and is third in the league in goal scoring.

This season he was also named the NAPHL Peak Performer from their showcase. Here's the article.

Currently Matt is playing for Colorado Thunderbirds 18U team. In 36 games this season he has 14 goals, 13 assists and 27 points. He also saw some playing time this year with NAHL's Kenai River Brown Bears.
He's a player who's already shown that he will be able to produce at the NAHL level. It will be fun to see him in a Tomahawks uniform next year if he makes the team.
Bland this season plays for the Phoenix Jr Coyotes. In 36 games this season he has 24 goals, 14 assists and 38 points.
Here he's stats from past seasons.
Tien plays for Richmond Generals of the MJHL. In 35 games this season he has 20 goals, 40 assists, and 60 points. He was named MJHL's Player of the Week three times and selected for the MJHL All-Star game.
Here's his past season stats:
Tien is going to be a great player to watch and hopefully he can take his domanating game from the MJHL into the NAHL.
Tenders Already this Season:
Dakoda Menslage- has already seen action with the team this season, but has missed the last few weeks due to injury.
Trevor Recktenwald- playing for Pittsburgh Viper Stars U18 team. He leads the team in scoring, 22 games, 12 goals, 16 assists, and 28 points. He stands at 6'2 205lb and is from Venetia Pa.
Shane Cuckovich- playing for Honeybaked Midget Major team is based out of Oak Park, MI and competes in the Midwest Elite Hockey League
The 2013-2014 team is shaping up to be a very good club. With these new additions along with players that will return to the team, Johnstown will be a team to reckoned with.
